What Can I Sell?

Choose One Product First

If you're a coach, therapist, hypnotherapist, educator or practitioner etc, thinking about selling something online, it can be overwhelming to know where to start.

It's tempting to over stretch yourself and pick a wide range. You know so much. You could make a sleep meditation, an anxiety course, a confidence pack, a full membership - there is so much noise from “experts” online saying you should do this or you should sell that. There are a wide range of options so the best thing to do is to break the goal down into manageable actions.

How to choose a product.

Ask yourself:

What do I already say to clients? If you find yourself repeating the same guidance frequently, that's your first product - you've already road-tested it.

What's the outcome? Better sleep, calmer mornings, walking into a room with more confidence?

Who is it obviously for? "Everyone" isn't an audience. "Clients who struggle with a certain issue are the customers you want to focus on. E.g smoking cessation, golf and sport performance etc. Niche down.

What does this product looks like in practice?

For most therapists, hypnotherapists, and coaches, that first product is one of:

- A single guided meditation or hypnosis audio (15–25 minutes)
- A short written guide addressing one specific problem
- A mini-course of 3–5 short lessons on one theme

A single, well-made product does three things a scattered range can't:

It's finishable. One 20-minute recording is a weekend project. Five products is a six-month project tha can quietly die in month two.

It's testable. You find out fast whether people want what you're offering, before you've invested weeks building things nobody buys.

It's promotable. One clear thing is easy to talk about. "I've got a new library of products" is vague. "I've made a 15-minute anxiety reset" is a sentence someone can actually act on.

The goal of your first product isn't to replace your income. It's to prove the model — record something once, sell it more than once — and build the confidence and process to do it again. Everything that comes after (more products, a membership, a course) gets easier once you've done this the first time.

Human Impact can help you plan your product and work out the best strategy for your current business circumstances.
